Oh, the Algarve. Where do I begin? This southern coast is home to some amazing and beautiful beaches. But did you know you could actually see all of the beaches in one day? Well, if you have a couple days to spend here then you can easily plan out each hike on different days because everyone should see what this coast has to offer.

Hike #1 – Praia Da Rocha to Praia do Barranco das Canas (3.7 km)

Starting as Praia Da Rocha Beach you can walk or hike down this beautiful coast. If you want to walk down the beach (recommended) then start at Praia Da Rocha and then walk toward the big rock formation to the right (Three Castles on Google Maps) and just keep walking and hitting all the beaches! Once you reach the end of the coast you will be at Praia do Barranco das Canas.

If you want to hike, there are walking paths that start at the stairs before you walk down to Praia Da Rocha Beach. Some of the paths are paved and some are gravel. Check out my map below if you want to hike!

This hike (or walk) will talk about half a day putting in consideration that you will want to stop and take a lot of photos… which you will!

The beaches that fall on this trail are: Praia Da Rocha, Praia dos Três Castelos, Praia dos Careanos, Praia do Vau, Praia do Alemão, Praia do Barranco das Canas.

Hike #2 – Town of Lagos – From Praia da Batata to Praia do Canavial (3 km)

Hiking in Lagos was magical and prepare to spend a day trip doing this. I say this because there is just so much to see! What I did was start my hike by the fortress and hiked until I got to Praia do Canavial (map below). I packed snacks and a bottled water along with camera and GoPro. The lighthouse will be your halfway point, and I used this to stop and take a break. There is a restaurant here that I stopped to eat lunch at, and they only accept cash! You can also go on a tour to do this hike!

The beaches that fall in this trail are Praia da Batata, Praia do Pinhão, Praia Dona Ana, Camilo Beach, Praia dos Pinheiros, Praia da Balança, Praia do Barranco do Martinho, and finally Praia do Canavial.

Hike #3 – From Praia de Albandeira to Praia de Benagil (3.6 km)

This is the hike that I had planned on doing towards the end of my one month long trip to Portugal. But then, it stormed for 2 weeks straight and me doing this hike didn’t happen. But here was my plan if I would have. This hike is about 3.6 km and does require basic rock climbing skills.

The beaches that fall in this trail are Praia de Albandeira, Praia da Estaquinha, Praia da Malhada do Baraço, Praia do Pau, Praia da Marinha, Praia da Mesquita, Praia da Corredoura and Praia de Benagil.
